How to use the calculator
Please indicate external dimensions A and B, as well as wall thickness t in millimeters. Then specify the length of one element in meters and the integer number of pipes. You can enter fractional values separated by a period or comma.
Calculation formula
S = A×B − (A−2t)(B−2t)
m₁ = S × 10⁻⁶ × ρ
Square S turns out in mm² and multiplied by 10⁻⁶ to convert to m². Density of steel ρ taken equal to 7850 kg/m³. Result m₁ expressed in kg/m.
Designations
- A
- first outer pipe size, mm;
- B
- second outer pipe size, mm;
- t
- wall thickness, mm;
- S
- cross-sectional area, mm²;
- ρ
- steel density, 7850 kg/m³;
- m₁
- estimated weight of one linear meter, kg/m.
Calculation example
For pipe 100×50×3 mm cross-sectional area is 864 mm², and the estimated mass of one meter — 6,7824 kg. At length 6 m and quantity 8 pcs. total length is 48 m, design mass — 325,5552 kg before display rounding.
Accuracy and Limitations
The calculation is performed based on the idealized geometry of a rectangular section and does not take into account corner radii, technological manufacturing features and permissible dimensional deviations. The resulting mass is calculated and may differ from the tabulated mass of the profile pipe according to the standard range.
